Founded in 1971, the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus,
a multipartisan membership organization and state affiliate
of the National Women’s Political Caucus, has a mission
to recruit, train and help elect and appoint qualified
pro-choice women to public office. The MWPC seeks to raise
the political awareness and activism of women citizens,
to unite women around central issues which effect our rights
as citizens, and to help ensure that our leaders are committed
to these issues.
The MWPC Political Action Committee may endorse and support
qualified, pro-choice women candidates who agree with our
primary issues of concern:
- Reproductive freedom of choice
- Equal rights for all citizens regardless of sexual orientation, religion,
race, or ethnic background
- Enactment of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the Constitution
- Access to affordable childcare for all
- Education pursuant to the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace
- Prevention of domestic violence and violent crimes against women
The endorsement process and timeline will be determined
by the current MWPC PAC Board of Directors in adherence to
the MWPC PAC by-laws and in agreement with the MWPC Steering
Committee. Candidates will be requested to complete a questionnaire
and be available for an interview conducted by representatives
from the MWPC PAC Board and MWPC Steering Committee. It may
be determined that candidates for re-endorsement to the same
office do not need an interview.
