I was disappointed
to read the criticism of the upcoming unveiling of Gov.
Jane Swift’s portrait in the State House (Oct. 6).
As the first
women to occupy the corner office, Swift is an important
figure in our political history and deserves to be recognized
as such. Displaying her portrait along with the portraits
of other past governors will celebrate this important
landmark in women’s history in Massachusetts and will
serve as a strong image of women’s leadership for the
young women of our state.
